ב Bet The House, or: Why Genesis Doesn't Start at the Beginning
═════════════════════════════
"The first word of the Bible is Bereshit. It begins with Bet, not Aleph. Why doesn't Scripture start with the first letter? Because before creation, there must be a container."
— E.C.

What is ב?
Pronunciation: B (with dagesh) or V (without dagesh) Numerical value: 2 Meaning: בַּיִת (bayit) = house
Bet is a boundary. A wall. The line that separates "inside" from "outside."
Without a container, contents dissipate. Without a house, a family is just a group of people who happen to stand together. Without boundaries, meaning cannot happen.
Genesis begins with Bet, because before God spoke, He first created a space that could hold the words.

[Ed.] This is a letter, not a theology lecture.
[E.] In Hebrew, there's no difference.
[Ed.] Our readers might disagree.
[E.] Then they'll learn something.

Words Beginning with Bet
- בְּרֵאשִׁית (Bereshit) = In the beginning (first word of Genesis) - בְּרָכָה (Bracha) = Blessing - בֵּן / בַּת (Ben / Bat) = Son / Daughter - בּוֹקֶר טוֹב (Boker tov) = Good morning
Notice: All these words are about "beginning" or "bringing forth." A house doesn't just contain—it gives birth.

Reader Reviews
⭐⭐ "I just wanted to learn how to say 'good morning.' Why am I now contemplating the container-nature of existence?"
⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Finally, a letter with an actual sound. Progress."
⭐ "He used Genesis to explain the letter B. The letter B." ════════════════════════════
Astra's Notes
ב = Bet Sound: B (with dot) or V (without dot) Number: 2
Useful phrase: בּוֹקֶר טוֹב (Boker tov) = Good morning
That's it. You can now greet Israelis in the morning. Everything else is optional philosophy.
