「Your national airline is named 'toward God.'」

「Yes.」

「That's either very confident or very fatalistic.」

「We've had a complicated relationship with both.」

「How long.」

「Twenty-two minutes.」

「What did they ask.」

「Purpose of visit. Length of stay. Where I'm staying. Who I'm staying with.」

「And.」

「I said I was staying with you.」

「Then they asked how I know you. I said you're a historian. They asked how I know a historian.」 「I said I read his work.」

「That's true.」

「Yes. Then they asked if we're in a relationship.」

「I said I wasn't sure how to answer that.」

「You said that.」

「It was the most accurate answer.」 「They didn't like it.」

「I imagine they didn't.」

「Then they asked again.」 「I said 'We live together but it's complicated.'」

「That's a very Israeli answer.」

「They seemed more confused after that. A supervisor came.」 「Do you know a man named Dov? About fifty, glasses, very tired-looking?」

「...No.」

「He knows you.」 「I told him the address. He kept typing. Then I told him who I was staying with. He stopped. He said——'Eitan Cohan? The historian?' I said yes. He looked at me for about four seconds. Then he said 'okay' and let me through.」

Eitan

「Israel,」他說,「is a very small country.」

「I noticed.」 「They put a sticker on my passport. Number three.」

「Three is fine.」

「What's six.」

「You don't want six.」

「Eitan.」

「Mm.」

「Next time you should brief me on what answer you want me to give.」

「What would you have preferred to say.」

「Something shorter.」

「Like what.」

「'Yes.'」

「Eitan Cohan。」

「《The Algorithm Trap》

Nadav

Eitan

「Eitan.」

Nadav
